rosemary and currant scones

Coffee and Scones

This morning my girlfriends came over for coffee and scones. I know what you’re thinking…Damn girl! What time did you get up this morning?! Well, let me tell ya a little secret, the scones have been assembled and waiting for this very occasion. That’s right, I made them (up to a certain point) in advance! #BarefootContessa #MakeItAhead

The trick to effortless entertaining and stress free hosting is, being prepared and having a plan. It’s that simple. I love having home made baked goods tucked away for a rainy day. Just before the girls arrive, I’ll toss them in the oven and wait for their aroma to fill my kitchen with bakery vibes!

Coffee Beans – This is a blog post all on its own. I personally like to buy the beans and grind them at home. When you really want to impress the #CoffeeClub, try beans from the Hampton Coffee Company or Starbucks.

Eva Bryn Shoetique

Red Carpet Affair

The Eva Bryn Shoetique turned one! What a fantastic shop! I’m incredibly happy for my dear friend Kelly who turned her passion into reality. I admire anyone who brings their dream to fruition.

For this occasion, I wanted my shoes to be the star. I paired my hand drawn graphic tee with a structured blazer, leather trousers and my beloved Lucy Choi Dorsett ankle boot.

My handsome husband looking fly per usual! #GucciMan #Chloebag #Hermesbelt #EssiePolish

kitchen spoons

Ride or Die Vol. 1

This edition of Ride or Die is focused on the kitchen tools every cook should have. Here they are in no particular order: hand mixer, classic chef’s knife, knife sharpener, wooden spoon, slotted metal spoon, vegetable peeler, milk frother, measuring cups and spoons, mandoline, cutting board with deep well, and a citrus juicer.

Allow me to elaborate a touch:

Using a frother gives this home barista latte vibes and I’m HERE for it!

I adore home made chocolate chip cookies, don’t associate with anyone who doesn’t matter of fact. Measuring spoons and cups ensure accuracy a baker needs while a hand mixer gives me total control over the batters consistency. #TypeA #OCD #ControlFreak

Vegetables, fresh ones, require a bit of effort upon purchase. I prep all veggies straight away. This could entail peeling them, rinsing, drying, or keeping them fresh in containers, some full of water (i.e. carrots, celery, etc). Thanks for that pro tip, Downshiftology! I’ve noticed that when prepped vegetables are at eye level in the fridge, one is more compelled to nibble on them rather than cookies.

Golden Goddess Glow

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of school bells ringing. To celebrate, my gf is having a pool party. Because she’s EXTRA, we’ll have a bartender on site! I mean honestly, what’s a party without a mixologist? #SteelCityMixology

Here’s 3 tricks to pulling off that Gorgeous Golden Goddess Glow.

#1 Mix liquid bronzer with lotion or body oil and apply generously to arms and legs. If you have your act together, pencil in an application of self-tanning body oil the day before your event. I use Josie Maran‘s or these tan towels.

#2 Use highlighter on your shins, collarbone, and shoulders. I also like this one by Benefit Cosmetics and of course my ultimate fave, Becca’s Champagne Pop.

#3 Go for the gold jewelry…all of it. As a matter of fact, if your husband doesn’t say “The ladies in Goodfellas called and want their jewelry back!”, then you don’t have on ENOUGH.

My favorite summertime accessories have been oversize sunnies, a statement ring, gold hoops, a single bangle pushed up my forearm, and my gold chunky link Apple watch band.
