Big hair

Is my hair big enough?

In this volume of the ride or die series, we’re talking HAIR. Fussing with my hair is one of my guiltless pleasures. The phrase guilty pleasure is an oxymoron and I’m not here for it. I don’t do my hair all the time, but when I do, I go big. Here are my must have products to ensure my tresses are on point.

Why do I love the afore mentioned so much? They work, period! My hair type is course and curly. I have thin strands but millions of them. The products above work for my hair type. Anytime I blow dry my hair I use the volumizing spray on the roots only and the thickening spray on the bulk of my hair. Using a mega (2.5″) round brush allows me to get the volume I’m craving. Once the hair is blown out and full, tease the roots and spray. If you’re feeling an Aqua Net moment, then set that hair with Redken’s Control Addict. If you need more movement, go for Aveda’s air control. To give clean hair some texture, some oomph, some pizzazz, hit it with dry shampoo. BOOM!

Shoeicide

Her feet are KILLIN her, I call it shoeicide. Ehhhh Fabolous? Anyone, anyone? I’m that bissssh who loves a good pump with just about any look. I got a slow strut like I’m walking to the alter. I could not care less where I’m going or if I’m overdressed for the occasion. Life is the occasion, and one can never be over educated or over dressed. Pump up the volume on your stilettos queens!

Pumps featured above: suede nude heel, pointed toe black bootie, white pump and black sandal

Gucci Combat Boots

How to Style: Combat Boots

This ones for the girls who grew up in the 90’s stomping around in Dr Martens and jamming to alternative rock. I’m with you, Queens! Here’s how I style my combat boots. Tying a flannel round your waist is obvi encouraged.

My favorite way to wear combat boots is to mix girly girl with cool girl vibes. Try styling combat boots with a printed dress or pleated skirt. Complete the look with bare legs, fishnets or patterned tights. Perfection.

Denim, leather or dressy shorts and skirts are in season all year round. In the colder months layer tights or stockings over bare legs. It’s a bit edgy this way, adding to the cool factor.

The ‘ish’

I’m an extremest in all aspects of my life. I’m ALL IN or I’M OUT, and that goes double for my appearance. #FullGlam #Homeless. Somewhere between bombshell and conductor of the hot mess express lies the ‘ish’, or as I like to call it FAF-ish (Fancy As F*** -ish). This technical term refers to those days when you appear put together but, your struggle is real. The nail polish is most certainly chipping, you desperately need to wash your hair, and you’re still wearing the mascara from the day before (or maybe that’s just me). This is the “ish”.

When you want to look cute (but can’t be bothered), focus on impactful details to rejuvenate your inner queen. This could be a bold lipstick, over-sized sunglasses, statement earrings, tailored jacket, or a go-to uniform. Here are my favorite uniforms in a flash.

UNIFORM #1 is athletic leggings, a hoodie (if you would rather die than wear pumps CANNOT be bothered with outfit #2) and white sneakers.

UNIFORM #2 is a pair of pumps, jeans that make your butt look good, a tucked in t-shirt, a belt and accessories.
